About BVPS

Welcome to Binfield Village Protection Society

Binfield has always been a picturesque and pleasant place to live. Part of the attraction of Binfield is the close proximity to the peace and quiet of open countryside with views across unspoiled land. We hope this website will help you to understand more about Planning and Development in Binfield.

Founded over 30 years ago, Binfield Village Protection Society now has over two hundred members, and our objectives remain as important today as they were in 1975 when we launched our first ever campaigns:

Sunset from Wick's Green, Binfield.

Over the years our campaigns have ranged from stopping a large gravel extraction site in the village through to a lengthy battle, with others, to stop a huge M4 motorway services station being built in countryside in the north of the Parish. More recently we have fought against a monstrous four storey block of apartments proposed for the village centre and, on behalf of our members, we have objected to many other wholly inappropriate developments planned for our village.

We do not object to all new development in and around Binfield. As a resident you will have seen many high quality and very welcome new developments in the village over recent years. These we always support.

Background

Over the past thirty years Binfield, like many other small settlements in the rural South East of England, has seen a significant increase in its size and population. Development has come through both large and small housing estates and the replacement of individual houses with multiple units.

Additionally, the Southern part of the parish has seen large scale commercial development, most, if not all, related to 'high tech' industry.

Local residents have always had the opportunity to comment on proposals for development, either directly to Bracknell Forest Borough Council or through Binfield Parish Council.

Purpose of this website

The Society has, over thirty years, acquired considerable knowledge and experience in opposing inappropriate development and we now feel that we can make this information available to the community through this web site.  Press any button of the index on the left to find out further information.

Use the links to find out more information about the planning process.  Use the information we have gleaned from experience to help you address development situations that give you cause for concern.

Meetings

Our Committee meets at 8pm on the second Thursday of each month in the Binfield Parish Council offices on Benetfeld Road. We warmly welcome any members wishing to attend or make representations.

Please let us know if you plan to attend: Margaret@BVPS.org.uk
