Objecting

In this section we describe how you can effectively fight and win against inappropriate planning applications. You usually have less than 20 days to OBJECT from the date you first hear about the Planning Application.    

In outline this is what you need to do, as soon as possible:

  1. Understand how the Planning Process works <click here>.  

  2. Look at the submitted plans and decide on your main reasons for objecting to the application. Make sure they are valid reasons from a Planning Officer’s perspective <click here>.  

  3. Write to the Council clearly stating your objections to the Planning Application and contact other people who may support your objections and themselves submit objections or comments to the Planning Department (see the following sections for advice, contacts and sample objection letters).
