Welcome to
Binfield Village Protection Society.
'Binfield has always been
a picturesque and pleasant place to live. Part of the attraction of Binfield
is the close proximity to the peace and quiet of open countryside with views
across unspoiled land. We hope this website will help you to understand more about Planning and
Development in Binfield. In our pages you will find a helpful guide to
making objections, plus information on a wide range of related subjects from Binfield History, thru' to maps, satellite photographs, and details of key local
contacts.
UP TO 3,200 NEW HOMES FOR BINFIELD
Bracknell Forest Council have carried out a study of
possible housing sites called a Strategic Housing Land Availability
Assessment .
The results have identified eight possible areas for extensions to existing
settlements. Two of these are shown on the map and are referred to as
possible locations for growth. If all eight potential sites were developed
they could provide around 10,000 homes, which is nearly 6,000 homes more
than required to meet government targets. This means that residents have a
choice and can tell the Council through consultation, how and where
Bracknell Forest should grow in the future.
More work needs to be done before any areas are
allocated for development but two of the eight locations under consideration
are in Binfield. Site 4 could provide 2,000-2,300 new homes on the land
between Binfield and the A329m from Coppid Beech northwards. Option 5
replaces the whole of Blue Mountain Golf Course, Driving Range and Wyevale
Garden Centre with 800-900 new homes.
Alarmingly, the Council’s preferred solution appears to concentrate almost
all these new homes in what they call a “Northern Arc” of development to the
north and north-west of Bracknell. Which really means building thousands of
homes across Binfield and Warfield:
Unbelievably these 3,200 new homes are in addition to
the hundreds already planned for Amen Corner and a further 1,700 proposed
for Cabbage Hill, North Warfield.
If these new proposals are approved then we will lose
our open spaces, our golf club, and many of the green fields surrounding our
village. Our roads, schools and community will be overwhelmed by such
massive new development.
Bracknell Forest is currently running a “public consultation” on these
proposals from Friday 26th February until 5pm on Friday 9 April 2010.
The Council is holding public exhibitions around the Borough where planning
officers will be available to explain the issues in detail, the dates and
venues for Binfield are:
- Binfield Parish Council Offices
on March 31st from 10am until noon.
- Binfield Library on April
6th from 2pm until 5pm.
The
Binfield Annual
Parish Meeting will
be discussing these proposals. The meeting starts at 8pm on March 25th
in the Memorial Hall. All Binfield residents and welcome, please come along.
Copies
of the Consultation Documents and Questionnaire are available at the Parish
Council Offices in Benetfeld Road, open 9:00-12:00 from Monday to Friday.
Alternatively you can view or download all the documentation from the links
below.
Binfield Village Protection Society is
currently studying these proposals and we will publish our views and
recommendations on this website as soon as possible. Our Alerts Subscribers
and members will receive this information directly by email.

SIGN-UP FOR PLANNING ALERTS
In
this age of technology, it is no longer effective
for BVPS to communicate with residents
through public notices, letters and meetings. The planning process
is moving quickly and it is usually only immediate neighbours who will be
informed of a proposed new development and invited to comment. Often, the
first the rest of us know about the new build is when the building actually
starts.
Therefore, we want to
introduce a fast way of alerting all Binfield residents to development
threats to Binfield, to provide valid reasons for objecting (to part or all
of the plans), and simple instructions on where you may quickly email short
"letters" of objection. We believe that this is THE most effective way to
alert Binfield residents of planning applications and to give you the
opportunity to help object to inappropriate planning applications early in
the process.
To make this work we
need to log as many residents email addresses as possible. Please help us
protect your village by emailing your name and address to
alerts@bvps.org.uk. You can opt out at any time and your personal
details will be kept strictly confidential and used only for this purpose.
We really can't win without your support.
Thank you for visiting, please call back soon.
